Free Edmonton Public Library cards will continue

The Edmonton Public Library’s 100th birthday gift to people last year — free library cards — will continue, library officials announced Wednesday at a news conference in the Stanley A. Milner Library.
“While EPL’s centennial has come to an end — we are now 101 — library cards will continue to be free from now on,” library board chairwoman Ellen Calabrese-Amrhein said to cheers, applause and the honk of birthday-party noisemakers. “As EPL heads full force into the second century spreading the words, our focus will be on accessibility.
